Alessandro Vespignani, President of ISI Foundation and Professor at Northeastern University, has been honoured with the EPS-SNPD Prize by the European Physical Society, the association representing 42 national physics societies throughout Europe.
The award recognises Professor Vespignani’s ground-breaking contributions to the field of statistical physics of complex networks, where his work has helped unveil the universal principles governing the spread of epidemics, social phenomena and information. His research has been pivotal in advancing computational modelling and predictive frameworks for contagion processes, with significant scientific and societal impact.
